Feb 2010 Change List

For those curious, here is a full list of changes from the February 9th system update…

  • ‘Auto Buy’ and ‘Manual Buy’ have merged to give you the best of both systems, and the ‘Auto Buy’ button was renamed to ‘Find Books.’
  • ‘Manual Buy’ is now inside your buying lists, and is called ‘Find Books Manually’. The new ‘Find Books’ button should replace the ‘Manual Buy’ style of buying with a more controlled, efficient, and faster system.
  • Once your ‘Find Books’ search is complete, you have the option to revise individual searches within a list. This gives you the control when a listing does not meet your search criteria.
  • You are now able to go back and forth between a completed ‘cart’ to ‘revise’ your search. This will help you to keep accurate purchase logs and manage your time more efficiently.
  • Once your list search is complete, the system will show you how many of your titles were found, how many titles were not found and display the quantity found for each title. You can now sort by ‘list order’, or ‘alphabetically’ by title. If you are not satisfied with the results, you can go back and revise your filters manually.
  • You are now able to see the processing status of your list right on the ‘Home Page’ (old ‘Processing Lists’ link is gone since its no longer needed). You can even queue up additional lists to run back to back.
  • The Main Menu is now organized differently, including some wording changes. Try taking a self tour to learn what is different!
  • The ‘Settings’ link under the ‘Main Menu’ has been changed to ‘Global Filters’, which is where you will find all the original filters. Some of the tabs inside the new ‘Global Filters’ link, have been moved around and renamed for clarity.
  • Now you can choose to factor in your purchase history, so the system remembers what you already bought from a specific list (this actually isn’t brand new but the setting was harder to find before). This will enable you to shop off a list over the course of several days to complete your order and not lose your way or double buy titles.
  • Once you are inside your list things are going to look a lot different, but make a lot more sense (we hope). For importing or uploading lists, just click on the form you wish to enter your books into the system with. To set your filters, just click on either the ‘list settings’, or the ‘global settings’ buttons.
  • We added a comprehensive help section to provide you clear and concise instructions. Just look on any page for the [help] link, click and read.

These changes are a result of valuable feedback from bookstore customers using the system. We hope these changes will make it easier for you to use BookVolume! Please feel free to submit any feedback or suggestions for changes.
